From Beauty Sales to Cybersecurity
Who is Rebecca Ihenyen?
Hey there! I’m a multi-talented individual who has thrived in various roles across diverse industries. I started out in the Beauty industry as a sales and customer service rep, where I learned the ropes and developed top-notch leadership skills. Here I got great at understanding customer needs and building strong relationships. But then, I jumped into the tech world and worked as a customer success manager and community manager in an awesome Insurtech startup. While in tech, I loved interacting with our community, how intense and chaotic things got before product launch but even more the celebration and pats on the back we always gave ourselves after every success. It’s been an interesting and fulfilling ride!
But you know what? I’m on to something even more exciting now — I’m diving headfirst into the world of Cybersecurity! I’m super passionate and excited about my growth so far, and I’ve got my eyes set on the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) path in this field.
Cybersecurity has really grabbed my attention, and I’m eager to contribute my skills to protect individuals, businesses, and society as a whole. The journey into the GRC domain has been eye-opening, diving into the nitty-gritty of cyber risk management, compliance frameworks, and data security protocols.
With no background in IT, this is my biggest challenge so far and I’m loving it! So, I’m actively searching for entry-level roles or internships to put my knowledge and dedication to the test in real-world scenarios.
Beyond my professional pursuits, you’ll find me trying out new things and having a blast! I’m a Podcaster, Beauty consultant, and a total food lover. You’ll always find me where the enjoyment is *wink*.
So, join me on this journey — I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in this ever-evolving world of cybersecurity. And hey, I’m actively exploring cybersecurity forums and online communities to make awesome connections along the way. Let’s connect here!
Until next time, catch me where the good guys are!
